COUPLES COunseling
Improved understanding and communication, deeper friendships, and greater intimacy are common goals for couples therapy. I’m passionate about supporting couples to nourish and maintain meaningful, satisfying, and long-lasting relationships and work diligently to share thoughtful, practical, and evidence-based strategies for getting there. In therapy we can identify and reduce patterns of disconnection and restore (or build upon existing) patterns of connection.
Couples therapy may help couples:
• Close the gap when partners have grown emotionally distant and process emotional injuries
• Navigate conflict more productively
• Turn gridlocked communication into dialogue
• Support healing and connection when PTSD and trauma are present
• Recover, repair, and rebuild after an affair
• Talk about sex and learn to create the conditions for each partner to experience pleasure
When working with couples I closely follow the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy. This method is grounded in over 50 years of research and is designed to teach specific tools to improve the quality of your relationship.
